We are hurtling through the holidays, and though Thanksgiving Leftovers Week has only just begun, the next major face-stuffing occasion is just around the corner. No, not that one. We're talking about Hanukkah, which lands early this year on December 2nd.

For the first time, Katz's Deli will be celebrating the occasion with a special potato pancake promotion. For eight miraculous nights, the first 100 people to line up at the iconic Jewish deli's new outpost in downtown Brooklyn (445 Albee Square West) will be treated to free latkes. Apple sauce and sour cream will also be available, and hey, maybe you feel like washing it all down with a pile of hand-cut pastrami the size of your head. It's Hanukkah! Live a little.

Not faking an orgasm just yet? Between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. on the first day of the holiday, there will also be music, dreidels, puppets, dancing and something called "mensch on a bench." The festivities are hosted by the Forward and City Point, and the free latke portion begins at 6 p.m. sharp each night.

As a reminder, the 130-year-old deli opened its first-ever satellite counter last year in the buzzy Dekalb Market Hall, located in the basement of the City Point Development. So far, reviews for A Taste of Katz’s have been mixed. There's no elaborate ticket system, no late night fistfights over line crowding, and a significantly smaller likelihood of running into Billy Crystal.

Fine. But what's not to like about a free latke?
