The only thing better than a pizza festival that doesn't turn out to be a scam is a pizza festival that doesn't turn out to be a scam that also benefits charity. And that's just what you get if you attend the annual Slice Out Hunger event, which features some of the best slices in the city for just $1 a piece.
This year's event is taking place next Wednesday October 10th at St. Anthony's Church in Greenwich Village. As always, it is being thrown by pizza expert and founder of Scott's Pizza Tours Scott Wiener; proceeds from the event will be split 50/50 between City Harvest and The Sylvia Center, a non-profit focused on healthy eating.
Attendees purchase $1 tickets—red for pizza, with a limit of 10, and blue for drinks and dessert—at the door and then walk through the room selecting a slice from the desired pizzerias, with a limit of one slice per pizzeria. Doors to the event open at 6 p.m. but there may be long lines to enter the church, if previous years are anything to go by. A $100 donation gets you and one other person to the front of the line, with 10 red tickets to spend as you wish. (You can see more event and ticketing information here.)
But it's all worth it, especially once you take a look at all mouth-watering pizza places that will be represented there. Here's the full list of pizza participants:
