An SUV driver dragged a man for four blocks in the Bronx earlier this week while the man held on to the outside of the car, eventually killing him, cops say.
According to the NYPD, the driver of the Jeep Cherokee met up with the victim on East 156th Street and Kelly Street on Tuesday to sell the man an Armani jacket. But instead of selling the jacket and both men going their separate ways, the driver of the car sped off with the victim holding on to the passenger side of the Jeep.
The victim fell off the car after about four blocks, according to cops, and the driver fled north on Prospect Avenue. EMS who responded took the man to Lincoln Hospital, where he died from his injuries.
The victim was identified as 49-year-old Dennis Gandarilla, of Pelham Bay. Police say the driver of the car is a man in his 40s, and that the car itself is a red or maroon late model Jeep Grand Cherokee.
Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS or for Spanish 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers Website or texting their tips to 274637(CRIMES) then enter TIP577.
