For the past year Airbnb has been rolling out their "experience" options in a number of cities, offering tours, classes and a variety of, well, local experiences. On Tuesday September 26th they'll be going live with a big "only in New York" offering, featuring a tour with Sarah Jessica Parker, a woman who made stoops a tourist attraction and currently runs one of the loveliest Instagram accounts.
The tour will take place on October 6th and cost $400, "with four spaces bookable" on a "first come, first served" basis, according to NBC New York.
The listing features a note from Parker, explaining that the small group will meet "at Bloomingdale’s 59th Street, an iconic NYC landmark, for what I hope is an unforgettable shoe-shopping experience... Next we’ll head to Forty Carrots for what some may say is the best frozen yogurt in NYC and we’ll chat about my city and why I’ve called it home for so many years. After that, I’ll send you off in your new SJP shoes to a special evening at the exquisite and incomparable New York City Ballet. You’ll have some of the best seats in the house, plus some VIP surprises."
Parker is on the board of the New York City Ballet, and all proceeds from the Airbnb experience will go to the Ballet. She told the AP that it's "one of the great cultural experiences anybody can have" in New York.
The entire itinerary was planned by Parker herself, and she told the AP that it "speaks to the very colorful identity that is New York," adding that "we could have gone to MOMA or the Whitney or walked through Chinatown or certainly had a nice walk on the High Line or just strolled the streets of the East Village or Midtown East," but she chose Bloomingdale's because it's "an iconic destination." It's also where her line of shoes is available, and each member of the tour will receive a pair the she'll help pick out.
There are four spaces available, and they go on sale on September 26th (though currently the listing says it is sold out).
