The sun is setting on Landmark Theatres' Sunshine Cinema in 2018, but the mostly arthouse movie theater chain has announced that its new Hell's Kitchen location, with eight screens and a full bar, will open on September 15.

The location, The Landmark at 57 West, is situated in 657 West 57th Street, by the West Side Highway, in the dramatic "pyramid" Bjarke Ingels-designed luxury rental building, the Via, developed by Durst.

"We are excited to be opening a premier theater and creating a new destination for cinema. The Landmark at 57 West will provide a top-tier entertainment experience for the sophisticated moviegoer who enjoys a wide array of interesting and quality films," said Ted Mundorff, President and CEO of Landmark Theatres, in a statement.

Lately, more specialized movie theater chains have been upping the NYC moviegoing ante by offering meals and plush seating, like the new Alamo Drafthouse in downtown Brooklyn and iPic at the South Street Seaport, for a premium experience. The Landmark at 57 West will be no different, as a press release boasts:

The Landmark at 57 West will not only boast dramatic views of the Manhattan skyline along the Hudson River, but the interior will appeal to film aficionados and neighborhood movie-goers alike. The theatre has eight auditoriums with wall to wall screens and laser projection, as well as oversized ultra-plush leather chairs or electric recliner seats with footrests which can be reserved through advance ticketing.

In addition to fresh, hot popcorn with real butter and Eisenberg Gourmet Beef Franks, the concession stand will feature a wide array of items. Local favorites will include Melt Ice Cream Sandwiches, Sweet & Sara Vegan Smores, Bronx Pretzels, Sugar and Plumm Macarons, Two Boots Pizza, NYC Diesel Blend from Native Coffee Roasters, Fat Witch Brownies and Treat House Marshmallow & Crispy Rice Treats.

The theatre also has a full bar, JD’s Place, which will feature craft beers on tap, an extensive wine list, premium liquor and craft cocktails as well as assorted salads, pulled pork sliders and tacos.

During a Community Board 4 liquor license meeting

, a Landmark executive said that one cocktail, called the "W. 57th," would include "Hennessy V.S, Grand Marnier, sweet vermouth and Peychaud’s Bitters ."

"Today, more than ever, audiences have discriminating tastes and high expectations. We take great pride in our customer service and delivering the best in film and are confident we will exceed our customers’ demands," Mundorff said.
