Since January 20th, the day he was inaugurated, President Donald Trump hasn't returned to spend the night in New York City. Sure, he visited for a few hours for an event at the Intrepid but he's been spending most of his time at his country club in New Jersey. Until now: The president will be spending a few nights back at his gilded aerie at Trump Tower, starting on Sunday. Which also means the lockdown returns.

On Friday, the NYPD announced what's happened to midtown streets:

In connection with the planned visit by President Trump to New York City during the period of Sunday August 13th thru Wednesday August 16th traffic delays should be anticipated during various times in the area of East 57th Street and Fifth Avenue in Manhattan.

The NYPD will establish vehicle security checkpoints for random safety inspections on Fifth and Madison Avenues in the vicinity of Trump Tower. Some traffic delays can be expected in these areas.

Although Fifth Avenue will remain open to southbound traffic, certain restrictions will be in effect at times.

The following streets will be closed to vehicular traffic beginning at approximately midnight Sunday, August 13th and remain closed for the duration of the event:
• 58th Street from 6th Avenue to Madison Ave.
• 55th Street from 5th Avenue to Madison Ave.

The following street will have managed access to vehicular traffic beginning at approximately midnight Sunday, August 13th and will remain managed access for the duration of the event:
• 56th Street from 6th Avenue to 5th Ave.

The New York City Police Department encourages the public to use mass transit during this event. Drivers should avoid the Midtown area, or expect significant delays and heavy congestion. NYC MTA planned bus service advisories are available and may be viewed online at: http://travel.mtanyct.info/serviceadvisory/busplanwork.aspx

Businesses around Trump Tower, especially on 56th Street between Fifth and Sixth Avenues, complained about security-induced traffic restrictions ruining their livelihoods. Shortly after the election, chef David Chang, whose Má Pêche is on West 56th, Tweeted, "Not sure how mid-town business located near trump tower, can handle the loss of foot traffic moving forward. Make 56th Street Great Again."

56th Street between Fifth and Madison Avenues is closed; there are police and possibly a Secret Service trailer on the block.
