A Japanese trailer for the action drama about 9/11, starring Charlie Sheen and Whoopi Goldberg, was released today, and hoo boy, it's really something.

9/11, the film, centers around an estranged couple (played by Sheen and Gina Gershon), who are trapped in an elevator in the North Tower at the time of the September 11th terrorist attack. The movie is adapted from Patrick Carson's stage play, "Elevator," based on true events and voicemail messages left by victims.

At various points in the two minute trailer, Sheen is seen banging on the walls of the elevator and, later, telling his wife, "Sweetie, the building is coming down." Luis Guzman, Wood Harris, and Olga Fonda are also trapped with them, while Whoopi Goldberg appears to be some sort of building operator. After the elevator's cable snaps, the four of them are seen falling in slow motion, which is followed by a triumphant horn sequence. It does not get better from there.

"9/11 is a highly emotional journey and it took a dynamic bunch to collectively come together to make this unique film happen," director Martin Guigui said back in March. "We are fortunate to have such a gifted cast on board. Both Charlie and Whoopi are native New Yorkers who strongly identify with this story."

It's worth noting that Charlie Sheen has repeatedly expressed doubts about the "official narrative" around the real life events of 9/11, and once appeared on Alex Jones' radio show to claim that the towers collapsed due to a "controlled demolition." He's also made similar comments on Jimmy Kimmel, and once wrote an open letter/fan fiction to President Obama urging him to look into the cover-up.

The movie gets its U.S. release on September 8th.
