This year's massive Macy's 4th of July fireworks display will be Midtown-centric, to the frustration of Brooklyn Heights, DUMBO, Battery Park and the South Street Seaport revelers and businesses. But lucky you, Long Island City!
Timing:
Fireworks will blast off at 9:20 p.m., and wrap up by 9:50 p.m. Well before showtime, the NYPD is urging drivers to avoid affected roadways between 2:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m.

If you're planning to brave the crowds for a good viewing spot tonight, keep in mind that large backpacks, lawn chairs, lawn blankets, large coolers, and alcoholic beverages are all prohibited in the FDR Drive viewing area. Here's a handy map of the best viewing spots for NYC fireworks (not pictured, New Jersey's pyrotechnics, which were relocated to Exchange Place before New Jersey legislators ended a three-day government shutdown Monday and will be viewable from Battery Park):
