Four people were shot in Queens this morning in three separate shootings that left three of the victims hospitalized for their injuries and the fourth on life support.
In one incident in Brookville, two men, a 38-year-old and a 40-year-old, were shot when they got out of a car at 144th Ave and 227th Street this morning at about 8:30 a.m. Police say that an early investigation shows that the men were shot by an individual who had been waiting for them in a car parked near the intersection. When the men got out of their car, the suspect got out of his car and shot the 38-year-old man in the head twice and the 40-year-old man in the torso once. The suspect then got back in the car and fled the scene, with another person driving.
Both men were taken to Jamaica Hospital, where the 40-year-old man is in stable condition. The 38-year-old man was originally reported to be dead, but a police spokesperson told Gothamist that he was on life support. According to the News, the car the suspects were driving is a silver BMW.
In an earlier incident, a 37-year-old man in Rosedale was shot in the neck at about 6:30 a.m., in front of a house at 241C Mayda Road. Police say that a man and woman were seen fleeing the scene following the shooting, and an NYPD spokesman told Gothamist that police currently have a 40-year-old man in custody as a person of interest. The victim in this shooting was taken to Jamaica Hospital where he's listed in stable condition.
And in Flushing, a 43-year-old man was arrested and accused of shooting his 32-year-old girlfriend in the head during what cops suspect was a domestic dispute. That incident took place at the couple's apartment near 78th Road and 141st Street at about 9:40 a.m. this morning. The woman was taken to Jamaica Hospital in critical condition, but it's expected that she'll survive. A neighbor told the Post that they heard "the bang and the screaming," this morning and that the woman has a daughter who's either three or four months old.
"I heard it was a domestic dispute," a neighbor told the News. "On Mother's Day too. Can you believe that? Why have a fight? Just walk away, go out."
