Despite Florida's best efforts, our much-anticipated citywide ferry service launches on May 1st. This week the city released the new ferry schedules complete with expanded service to South Brooklyn and Astoria, not to mention a game-changing ferry ride to Far Rockaway.

The South Brooklyn ferry stops in Bay Ridge, at the Brooklyn Army Terminal in Sunset Park, in Red Hook, at Brooklyn Bridge Park Pier 6, in Dumbo, and at Wall St./Pier 11. This service begins June 1st' see the full schedule here.

The Astoria ferry stops in Astoria, Roosevelt Island, Long Island City, East 34th Street, and at Wall St./Pier 11. This service starts August, 1st; see the full schedule here.

The Far Rockaway ferry will start May 1st, departing from the Wall St./Pier 11 landing and the Brooklyn Army Terminal in Sunset Park; it lands near Beach 106th Street in Rockaway. See the full schedule here.

Unfortunately it'll still be annoying to get from, say, Williamsburg to Rockaway, or South Brooklyn to Astoria, but it'll also only cost you $2.75-per-ride—now, the East River Ferry, which will transition to become just one "East River" route in the citywide service system, costs $4. The East River route will also continue to operate on a similar schedule on weekdays. The weekend service schedule has not yet been posted, but we confirmed that it is continuing as before.

And in 2018, the city says they'll expand service even further, offering routes to and from Upper East Side, Soundview, and the Lower East Side. Also, booze! Progress is a beautiful thing.
