Nordic powerhouses Claus Meyer and Fredrick Berselius took NYC by blizzard last year—or whatever the Scandinavian equivalent of "storm" might be. Meyer opened not one but four different entities in 2016—a bakery, a restaurant, a hot dog stand and a food hall—and Berselius revamped Aska, immediately earning accolades and two Michelin stars. The duo collaborated on their next Nordic venture, Norman, an all-day restaurant that opened Monday inside A/D/O, a design space and work studio in Greenpoint. Is this hygge?

Executive Chef Andrew Whitcomb will be running the open kitchen, along which runs a long counter where diners can sit and watch Scandinavian-inspired dishes come together. These are of the "healthy living" variety, meaning lots of fancy vegetable toasts, ancient grain bowls, salads and soups. Pastries and bread dough will be shipped in from Meyer's bakery in Williamsburg then baked on-site. The bread will be part of the restaurant's daily lunch special ($14), which will include an entree and vegetable side dish that changes each day.

The health kick continues with kombucha on tap, but they'll have stronger stuff available, too. Natural, organic and biodynamic wines can get you drunk with slightly less guilt and they have beer as well as Scandinavian-esque cocktails.
