The MTA will suspend all above-ground subway service starting at 4 a.m. Tuesday morning due to the impending blizzard, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced today. All above-ground subway stations will close at that time. However, Cuomo said that subterranean subway service is currently expected to operate.

The Long Island Railroad and Metro North will likely experience changes due to the storm, but it's too soon to say how much they'll be impacted. The final decision on Metro North and LIRR service will be made closer to dawn, reportedly at 4:30 a.m., and Cuomo told reporters today that service could be shut down completely. There will likely be reduced city bus service as well, if the current forecast of one-to-two feet of snow proves accurate. (AMNY reports that bus service will be reduced by at least 30%.)

Mayor de Blasio will hold a press conference at 6 p.m. today to discuss the latest storm preparations (watch live here). Earlier today, the mayor announced that all NYC public schools will be closed tomorrow. (And Citi Bike just announced that the system will be closed starting at 11 p.m. Monday.) Check MTA.info and @NYCTsubway for transit updates as the blizzard unfolds.
