Crowds have been packing the New Museum to catch the stunning survey of Pipilotti's Rist's work, which shows how far Rist has pushed the medium of video since the 1980s and all the kaleidoscopic worlds she has created through her installations. And you should head to the Bowery soon—the show's final day is January 15th, 2017. You will likely find a line, but we reached out to the New Museum asking when the best chances of getting in would be—they told us, "For the general public, Tuesdays are by far our quietest days, since we recently added it due to the popularity of the show."
The exhibition, Pipilotti Rist: Pixel Forest, includes pieces from Rist's whole career, like her groundbreaking videos (including "Ever Is Over All" which clearly inspired Beyonce's "Hold Up").
"Nothing," in which a machine that emits bubbles in the lobby.

And a new installation, "4th Floor To Mildness," appropriately displayed on the museum's fourth floor. Visitors can lounge on beds to look at the ceiling, which has projections of her underwater videos of the Rhine River.
On the subject of "4th Floor To Mildness," she told the Wall Street Journal that "she is reimagining the world as seen from underneath Monet’s 'Water Lilies.' 'Everyone can choose for themselves how much they want to float away.'"
There's also the psychedelic Pixel Forest, which has 3,000 LED lights that change colors and has become the thing to Instagram.

The New Museum is located at 235 Bowery and open Tuesday through Sunday between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. except for Thursday, when it is open between 11 a.m and 9 p.m. (The museum is usually closed on Tuesdays, but will be open on Tuesdays during the Rist show.) If you walk by the New Museum, you'll see a video of Rist herself flattening her face against a glass window.
