The Brooklyn prosecutor accused of illegally wiretapping a cop's cell phone has been accused of wiretapping a fellow assistant district attorney's phone as well, reportedly prompting the feds to investigate her case.

The Post reports that Tara Lenich, 41, tapped fellow prosecutor Stephanie Rosenfeld-Vais's phone, after believing that Rosenfeld-Vais, who is married, was involved with Detective Jarrett Lemieux. Lenich was arrested on Monday and accused of tapping Lemieux's phone—Lenich reportedly believed that she and Lemieux, who is also married, were having a love affair. It's unclear whether any of these romantic entanglements actually took place.

The Brooklyn District Attorney's office has launched an internal investigation. "We have no reason to believe at this time that any of our investigations have been compromised … but we have nevertheless commenced an internal review," DA spokesman Oren Yaniv told the Post. The tabloid also reports that the investigation will be taken over by federal officials.

Lenich is accused of forging warrants related to the wiretapping at least 20 times, using different judges' names, between August 20, 2015 and November 25, 2016. She's been charged with eavesdropping and criminal possession of a forged instrument.

"As soon as these allegations were uncovered, we conducted a swift and thorough investigation, immediately terminated the employee and ordered a comprehensive review of our protocols and procedures to make sure that this abuse of authority never happens again," a spokesperson for the Brooklyn DA’s Office told Gothamist in a statement.
