Michelin's list of New York City's best restaurants will be unleashed next Thursday, but the French tire company announced their selections for the Bib Gourmand distinction today. Contenders for the list must offer two courses and a glass of wine or dessert for $40 or less before tax and gratuity, with 132 restaurants making the cut this year.

The big news around the food sites is about April Bloomfield's The Spotted Pig, which has been stripped of its single star rating and winds up on this year's Bib list. There's also speculation about some notable "omissions" to the Bib list from last year—Danny Meyer's Untitled, for example, along with well-received newcomers like Faro and Oiji—and whether we'll be seeing them adorned with stars this time next week.

But the kitchens of many included eateries are justifiably rejoicing this morning, especially newer restaurants like Atoboy, El Atoradero, Olmstead, 00+Co., MáLà Project, Llama Inn and others, who've all been recognized on this list.
