The NYPD is searching for a gunman who uses a wheelchair in connection with a fatal shooting in the Bronx early yesterday morning. According to police, 28-year-old Kevin Thomas was found with multiple gunshot wounds to his torso just before 2 a.m. Sunday outside of the Mott haven Houses at 350 East 143rd Street. First responders rushed Thomas to Lincoln Hospital, but he could not be saved.
A man in a wheelchair wearing glasses and a dark jacket was caught on security camera footage at the time of the shooting. Police allege he had displayed a firearm and shot Thomas multiple times. Another man seen with the gunman, wearing a brown jacket and black baseball hat, is also considered a suspect.
According to the Post, Thomas had tried to run from a group of men who attacked him on East 143rd Street, but was pursued by both suspects and shot dead by the man in the wheelchair.
