The story of Anthony Weiner is just one tumble down the mountain after another. Today's further fall from grace: a federal grand jury will reportedly start hearing evidence soon about Weiner's alleged sexting with a 15-year-old girl. Remember when his sexting was just goofy fun because his last name was a slang synonym for penis? Yeah, me neither.

The Daily Mail reports that federal investigators are looking to "move quickly" and could be introducing evidence of Weiner's alleged teen sexting to a grand jury by the end of October. Weiner's cellphone records were subpoenaed by the U.S. Attorney's office in late September to look for evidence of the sexually explicit messages he allegedly sent to a North Carolina teen.

A legal expert the Mail spoke to suggested Weiner could be hit with a misdemeanor charge of endangering the welfare of a child, which would land him a year in jail. That's the very low end of the spectrum though, as the NY Post suggests that Weiner could be hit with a charge of sexual exploitation of a minor, which carries a 15 to 30-year prison sentence.

The Daily News sources say the grand jury might not be as imminent as the Post and the Mail make it out to be, but even that story doesn't sound good for Weiner. According to the News, investigators from both the NYPD and the Manhattan District Attorney's office have been investigating the alleged sexting, and gave what they found to federal investigators who have "taken an interest" in the case. Danger, Carlos. Danger.
