Firefighters responding to a possible gas leak on Saturday evening found the bodies of a mother and her adult son, each with a gunshot wound to the head.

The woman's husband, Antonio Robinson, answered the door of their Claremont apartment after firefighters arrived on the scene at 7:30 p.m. yesterday. Neighbors told the Post that Robinson "came out of the building with a smile on his face."

Another neighbor told the Daily News that Robinson exited the apartment yelling, "I just found my wife and her son dead!" before he was taken into custody by police.

An NYPD spokesperson told Gothamist that Robinson is currently in custody "for an unrelated matter" and was not able to comment on whether he is being questioned in relation to the shooting.

Police have identified the victims as 50-year-old Sharon Epps and her 27-year-old son Tyrell Bell. Each victim was found in a different room with a gunshot wound to the head, and both were declared dead at the scene. No arrests have been made and officers say the investigation is ongoing.

Neighbors told the News that Robinson would often argue with both Epps and Bell.

"Tyrell would argue with his stepfather a lot. They were always arguing," one Claremont resident said. "The stepdad said he wished he would get a job. She would argue with him, too. She'd say, 'My son isn't going anywhere. He's staying here. If anyone goes, you go.'"
