Yesterday, we leaned that the City Point Alamo Drafthouse had to push their opening back to an undetermined date. Today, there's more bad news for City Point, the enormous mixed-use megaproject in downtown Brooklyn: Trader Joe's has updated their website to say that their second Brooklyn location won't be opening until 2017.
The City Point Trader Joe's was originally slated to open this fall, a date that the City Point website is still displaying. But in addition to the announcement from Trader Joe's, a customer at the chain's Court Street location in Brooklyn tells us that employees there believe the City Point location won't open until at least February.
This latest delay conforms to a pattern at the project, which in addition to the Alamo Drafthouse this summer, was supposed to have already seen the debuts of Century 21 and Target, both of which have indicated on their own corporate websites that they'll be opening in fall 2016.
It's unclear what, if any, the delays have to do with the City Point project itself. We've asked a rep for the development, and we'll update once we know more.
