In the wake of the 6.2 magnitude earthquake in Italy that killed more than 240 people and injured many more, a group of Italian restaurants in NYC are doing their part to aid in the relief effort. At least eight restaurants are donating $5 from every sale of Amatriciana—the eponymous pasta dish named for one of the towns devastated by the quake—to the Italian Red Cross.
Some of these restaurants include Marcello Russodivito, Rafele Ronca, Ristorante Rafele, Chef Cozzolino, Aita Restaurant, Aita Trattoria and LaRina Pastificio E Vino, who have teamed up with the Italian Red Cross. Here are a few other Italian eateries in NYC offering up their own specialty dish of philanthropic pasta.
TARALLUCCI E VINO: Starting next week, Tarallucci E Vino, a chain of Italian restaurants in NYC, will be offering Spaghetti all' Amatriciana, an Italian pasta dish made of tomatoes guanciale and pecorino that originated in the town of Amatrice, Italy. The dish, which sells at $21, will be available at four locations (NoMad, Union Square, the Upper West Side, and the East Village). A portion of the sale of each dish will support the Italian Red Cross's relief efforts.
BARBETTA RESTAURANT: Perched along Restaurant Row in Times Square's Theatre District, this century-old restaurant will donate 10% of its sales to the victims of the devastating earthquake.
RIBALTA PIZZA: Starting now through the end of September, this East Village locale will be serving their own dose of Amatriciana Pasta. For every dish sold to patrons, $4 will be donated to earthquake relief.
FELIDIA: Lidia Bastianich's pasta-centric Midtown East restaurant will donate the proceeds of a special dish, Chitarra all’ Amatriciana, to victims of the earthquake via the Italian Red Cross. The dish costs $30 and will be available for both lunch and dinner.
