After a quick relocation to Bushwick last year, the Full Moon Festival has returned to scenic Governors Island for the weekend, with a sweaty, ten-hour dance party on Saturday and another full slate of performers scheduled for Sunday.
Full Moon bills itself as a "boutique" alternative to the suddenly jam-packed NYC music festival scene. There's only one stage at the Governors Club venue, which was taken over by noteworthy acts on Saturday like Lolawolf, the excellent Moodymann, Pusha T, and headliner SBTRKT. On Sunday, Santigold will close things out (check out the full lineup here).
About a half dozen food vendors are on hand at the festival, selling poke, tacos, kale salad, slushies, meatball sandwiches, and matcha drinks. Eight-ounce vodka cocktails are $15, a price which did nothing to discourage folks from waiting on lines for booze all day. And if even the VIP pass is too plebeian for you, there are bottle service cabanas where you can enjoy a $425 fifth of Hennessy.
Note: there are NO water stations anywhere on site, though you can purchase 20-oz bottles for $5.
The second half of the Full Moon Festival runs Sunday from 2 p.m. to midnight, and both general admission and VIP tickets are still available—prices vary: $50 (GA), to $150 (VIP), to $5500 (lol what).
