August is National Sandwich Month, and Kossar's is kicking off a series of collaborations by offering a crazy sweet 'n' savory ice cream sandwich: It's Ice & Vice's Basic B ice cream, bookended by Kossar's little black-and-white cookies and rolled in everything seasoning.
Confirming what we knew from The Everything Donut, the sweet and salty notes start a party in your mouth. The decadent black-and-white icing on the thick cakey cookie gives way to the rich Mexican vanilla ice cream with black-lava sea salt. Complementing the sugar rush are the earthy Everything ingredients: Salt, poppy seeds, sesame seeds, garlic and onion.

The sandwich is called The Everything Black, and you can get it at Kossar's (367 Grand Street) and Ice & Vice (221 East Broadway). All the proceeds of The Everything Black and other sandwiches are going to Edible Schoolyard NYC, which helps educate public school children about healthy eating.
The Everything Black, $5, is available through August 7. Here's the schedule of the upcoming sandwiches:
August 8-14: Ivan Ramen’s Bialy Bonito Melt with oil poached tuna, garlic mayo, scallion, melted swiss and bonito furikake, on a Japanese everything bagel
August 15-21: Fung Tu’s Smoked Chicken Sandwich with Sichuan seasoning, avocado, lettuce, tomato and matchstick potatoes on a Garlic Chive Sesame Pletzel
August 22-31: Justin Warner’s Foie Gras Cream Cheese & Jelly Sandwich on a salted cinnamon raisin bagel
