A man bicycling in Central Park was mugged by three robbers over the weekend, police say.

The incident was reported to the police just before 1 a.m. on Saturday, July 16th. Police say that officers responded to a 911 call near 106th Street and 5th Avenue, where they encountered a 23-year-old man who said three men stopped him while he was biking through the park. One pointed a handgun at him and demanded his money and backpack.

The victim agreed, handing over his backpack which had his wallet with $60 cash, driver's license and a Chase debit card.

Police released images of the suspects. Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime stoppers website at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then enter TIP577.

A Walk in the Park reports that another man was shoved and robbed near that location at 6 p.m. on Saturday; a 17-year-old and 37-year-old were arrested. The NYPD's CrimeStat numbers show that robberies in the Central Park precinct are down by 60% for the year, with six reported through July 10 versus 15 last year.
