A 26-year-old cyclist was struck and killed by a driver early this morning in the Schuylerville neighborhood of the Bronx, according to the NYPD.
Police say Giovanni Nin, a Bronx resident, was riding his eastbound on his bike on East Tremont Avenue near Mayflower Avenue at 4 a.m. when he allegedly attempted to cross north to south on the block. It was then that he was hit by a driver behind the wheel of a "light colored SUV" that was also traveling east.
Police and EMS pronounced Nin dead at the scene.
The driver did not remain on the scene, according to police, and an investigation is ongoing.
