When it comes to impressive bar programs set in lush landscapes, there are few who do it better than Maison Premiere, the Williamsburg oasis known for its killer drinks and exceptional oyster happy hour. But with that kind of acclaim comes crowds to match, so the team has now branched out their talents to another location, opening Sauvage this evening in Greenpoint off McCarren Park.

The Lorimer Street space sits directly across from brunch mecca Five Leaves has a French bistro vibe going on with tile floors, mirrors and hand-blown glass chandeliers. Like its neighbor across the street, there'll be a take-out window serving coffee, pastries and other portable items debuting in the next few weeks.

There's a smaller version of their beloved raw bar here, including oysters, of course, in addition to Jonah Crab in brown butter ($14.28) and Red Carabinero prawns ($8). Chef Lisa Giffen's small plates sound particularly enticing, like the Spring Lettuce Soup ($8) with green garlic and uni and Ricotta Dumplings ($15) with spring onion and barley consommé. Lighter options abound in the extensive salad/veggies section, but the For Two selections include a Pig Head Confit ($45) and Dry Age Tomahawk ($150) if you're looking for a splurge.

There's perhaps no greater sign of a persnickety bar program than the sentence "six different forms of hand-chiseled ice will be featured," but MP won a James Beard Award for Outstanding Bar Program for a reason. Bar Director Will Elliott's put together a selection of over 200 spirits and an equal amount of wines here, focusing on small batch and sustainable offerings.
