An 80-year-old man died on Monday after being hit by a driver in midtown on Sunday night. The pedestrian's death marks the third fatality resulting from a collision that took place this past weekend.

According to the NYPD, the crash occurred at about 8 p.m. on Sunday night at 57th Street and Seventh Avenue. Richard Headley was "crossing West 57 at Seventh Avenue, in the middle of the street" when a 23-year-old man hit him with his 2002 Audi A6 while driving east on 57th.

When police arrived, they found the 80-year-old man lying in the street unconscious and unresponsive, with trauma to his body. He was taken to Cornell Medical Center and died from his injuries the next day.

Police couldn't immediately confirm whether by "in the middle of the street," their report was referring to the crosswalk at "6 1/2 Avenue," off of 7th Avenue.

No arrests or summonses have been issued to the driver, who police said remained on the scene. The investigation is ongoing.

Two other collisions this weekend resulted in fatalities: on Saturday evening, 58-year-old Elizabeth Wimmer was driving in the Bronx's Woodlawn Heights neighborhood with her two grandchildren when the driver of a Honda CRV swerved across the double yellow lines and crashed into her, killing her. Then on Sunday afternoon, the driver of a stolen vehicle crashed into two pedestrians in Canarsie, killing one and injuring the other. That driver fled the scene.

The Bronx incident took place at a crash-prone intersection that saw 59 collisions in 2015, 2 of which killed pedestrians. The Canarsie crash, on the other hand, saw four crashes last year, none of which resulted in injuries. 57th Street and 7th Avenue saw six collisions last year, and this is the first fatality there at least since 2012, according to NYPD crash data.
