Top aides to Mayor Bill de Blasio have been subpoenaed in the ongoing investigations into how he ran his fundraising operation. According to the Wall Street Journal, Emma Wolfe, de Blasio’s director of intergovernmental affairs, and Ross Offinger, the de Blasio campaign’s finance director, received subpoenas, along with BerlinRosen, the mayor’s PR firm of choice.

The paper reports that the subpoenas came from one of the same federal attorneys who successfully prosecuted former State Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos, and that the Manhattan DA’s office is also involved. The story also states that more subpoenas have been issued.

De Blasio’s administration is seemingly being investigated from every angle by every conceivable investigative body—for his support of banning horse carriages, ties to the real estate interests involved in a $116 million deal to turn a nursing home into luxury apartments, and corrupt NYPD officials—but it all leads back to money in the form of campaign contributions.

While a scathing report prepared by a Cuomo appointee claimed that De Blasio committed “willful and flagrant campaign violations,” the report omitted the fact that Governor Cuomo and the State Democratic Committee had essentially committed the same offenses (and knew about it).

“We are not commenting on the details of the investigations. All involved followed the letter of the law and are cooperating fully with the investigations," Karen Hinton, a spokesperson for the Mayor's Office, said in a statement.

“Emma Wolfe is a highly-regarded public servant whose integrity should not be questioned.”

In a statement, Maya Wiley, the mayor's attorney, said De Blasio has not been personally served with a subpoena.
