The 17th Annual Lunar New Year Parade wound its way through Manhattan's Chinatown yesterday, capping off a week of celebrations marking the arrival of 4714, the Year of the Monkey according to the Chinese zodiac.

Although the parade featured all the familiar sights and sounds—poppers, confetti, happy kids, drumming, Lion and Dragon Dancers, beauty queens, NYPD and FDNY bands, local politicians, corporate giveaways—the brutal cold weather kept both spectators and marchers to a minimum.

If you skipped yesterday's freezing festivities, there are still more fun Lunar New Year things to do and see next weekend as well, when the temperatures are supposed to get back up into the 50s again.
