A trip on the 7 train will transport you to more than dreamy dumplings and hot pot fantasies this Saturday, when the Great Northeast Cheese Fest delivers its debut evening of bloomy rinds, blue veins and sharp cheddars. The NY Epicurean event serves as a showcase for cheese- and taste-makers who revel in the diversity of America's cheeses and as an opportunity for fromage fanatics to overdose on dairy (and some drinks, too).

Cheese makers including Beecher's Handmade Cheese, Vulto Creamery and Bovina Valley Farm Creamery are but a few of the over 30 artisanal creameries expected in attendance. Each will be bringing a selection of their bounties—if Vulton brings the Ouleout (please!), run over there immediately. And some hyper local flavor has also just been added, as the Crown Finish Cheese Caves crew; hopefully they're still making the Crown Dutchess. If it's anything like previous cheese summits, expect a full belly long before you've been able to sample all of the cheeses.

On top of the cheese samples, chefs including Harry & Ida's perfect pastrami maker Will Horowitz, plus Alfonso Zhicay and Michelin-starred chef Hugue Dufour are tapped to make some cheesy creations utilizing the day's bounty. To pair with them, reds, whites and ciders from vineyards and cideries in New York State.

General Admission runs $60 for nibbles of all the cheeses, chef's bites and accompanying booze, with early access VIP tickets going for $150. The latter includes some culinary demos and information sessions about cheese and cheese-related topics. And if you didn't already take the lesson to heart, get some pro food photography tips from Gothamist photographer Paul Quitoriano, who'll be schooling attendees on proper angles for maximum Instagram food envy.
