A man was seriously injured after being struck by an MTA bus driver while crossing the street in the Lower East Side.
Police say that around 11 a.m., the 64-year-old pedestrian was crossing Madison Street south at Jackson Street when an MTA bus driver turned left and hit him in the crosswalk.
The man suffered injuries to his left shoulder and arm and was taken to Bellevue Hospital in serious but not life-threatening condition.
The driver of the bus, a 58-year-old man, remained at the scene.
An NYPD spokeswoman says that no summonses have been issued, and that the Collision Investigation Squad is still investigating.
An MTA spokeswoman, Amanda Kwan, confirmed in an email that an "M22 turning left at Madison and Jackson streets struck a pedestrian in the crosswalk."
Two pedestrians with the right of way have been killed by MTA bus drivers in the last month, one of them, Leyla Enukasvili, was killed in a Forest Hills crosswalk. No charges were filed in that case.
