Some cowardly scraps of human garbage posted a video on YouTube yesterday threatening more terrorist attacks on NYC. The video, which has since been removed, depicted Manhattan streets and storefronts in Times Square and Herald Square, spliced with clips of suicide bombers preparing for attacks and the typical threatening remarks familiar to anyone who's ever waded into the YouTube comments section. But because the video comes in the wake of the terrorist attacks on Paris, the mayor went to Times Square last night to remind everyone that New Yorkers refuse to be intimidated by these worthless pieces of shit.

"Stoking fear is the goal of terrorist organizations, but New York City will not be intimidated," Mayor de Blasio said in Times Square. "We understand it is the goal of terrorists to intimidate and disrupt our democratic society. We will not submit to their wishes.

"The NYPD is the most capable police force in the country, with a robust counterterrorism operation that was just strengthened with an investment of 500 additional officers... New Yorkers won't live in fear and people should continue to go to work, live their lives, and enjoy the greatest city in the world."

NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton also attended the press conference, and said, "Quite frankly, there is nothing new about that video... Be aware, but do not be afraid."

The NYPD issued an additional statement saying, "While some of the video footage is not new, the video reaffirms the message that New York City remains a top terrorist target. While there is no current or specific threat to the City at this time, we will remain at a heightened state of vigilance and will continue to work with the FBI, the Joint Terrorism Task Force and the entire intelligence community to keep the City of New York safe. In addition, we are continuing to deploy additional Critical Response Command (CRC) teams throughout the City, out of an abundance of caution.”

Bratton and Deputy Commissioner John Miller will hold a press conference in Times Square at 11 a.m. today to give an update on the department's counterterrorism measures.
