The normal high for November 4th is 58 degrees. This morning's low was just under that at 56. By this afternoon we'll top very close to 70, which is normal for late September, but very much abnormal for early November. Tomorrow will likely be a degree or two cooler as it will be mostly cloudy before a warm front passes late in the day. There is a slight chance we could see a scattered shower or two from late Thursday afternoon into Friday morning, but the dry weather largely marches on unabated.

Our abnormally warm spell will culminate in a near record high of 74 on Friday. With temperatures like that the local National Weather Service office must be having a hard time selling Winter Weather Awareness Week .

If you use your limited artistic abilities to draw the jet stream on top of Friday's temperature anomaly map the reason for this week's warm spell becomes obvious. The upper level winds are highly meridional, with a deep trough over the mountain west, where there are all sorts of winter weather warnings, and a strong ridge over the east coast. That pattern is going to flatten out and move eastward over the weekend so get ready for some slightly cooler weather.

Saturday should see a mix of sun and clouds and a high in the lower 60s. That's still several degrees warmer than average. Temperatures could shockingly drop to near normal on Sunday when the high is expected to only reach the mid 50s under mostly sunny skies. It looks like warmer conditions will return once again next week when daily highs are expected to reach the upper 50s to lower 60s and there is no indication of cool weather returning anytime soon.
