Today is INTERNATIONAL ALL CAPS DAY, a holiday best celebrated by people who enjoy SQUEEING OVER ADORABLE ANIMALS, CELEBRATING THE METS BEING GOOD AT SPORT, and STAR WARS NEWS. Today is also a GREAT DAY to YELL AT SOMEONE—it's an even better day to be my Nana, whose one email to me opened with "REBECCA----------WE' RE SO PROUD OF YOU !!!!!!!" My Nana is very cute. DON'T YOU DARE COMMENT ABOUT MY NANA.

Personal ALL CAPS tales aside, it turns out there's a story behind this beautiful holiday. According to the Daily Dot, ALL CAPS DAY was birthed on October 22nd, 2003, when web developer Derek Arnold decided it was time to remind today's Shift-key addicted masses that CAPS LOCK still exists.

"The era of smartphones and new keyboard layouts (see the Google Chromebooks as an example) is troubling," he told the website. "There could be a generation of sub-millennials who don't even know they can type using only capital letters without holding down a shift key. The file compression benefits of all-caps vs. mixed case alone is something like 212 percent."

CHILDREN, ARE YOU LISTENING?

DO NOT LET THE ALL CAPS KEY GO EXTINCT.

HOW WILL YOU EXPRESS EMOTION WITHOUT USING CAPITAL LETTERS?

HOW WILL ANYONE KNOW IF YOU ARE ANGRY?

HOW WILL GRANDPARENTS TYPE?

WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THE BABY OTTERS IF YOUR GCHATS TO COWORKERS ABOUT THEIR PHOTOS DO NOT MAKE IT EVIDENT THAT YOU ARE SCREAMING AT THE TOP OF YOUR LUNGS WITH GLEE?

Happy ALL CAPS day! REMEMBER THIS IS AN INTERNATIONAL HOLIDAY SO WE ARE HAVING FRENCH TOAST FOR LUNCH YAAAAAAY
