Chick-fil-A finally opens in Herald Square on Saturday, and they're offering fans willing to brave a hurricane free spicy chicken sandwiches and Chick-n-Strips. And not just for opening day—the first 100 adults on line on Saturday will get a year's worth of food free of charge, so you'll all have to go buy some bigger pants.
According to a news release, 100 out of the insane first 300 customers at the 37th Street and 6th Avenue spot will receive a card with a one-year supply of free weekly meals (winners will be selected through a lotto), though, since the event is presumably designed to lure local customers away from Popeye's, you'll have to reside within one of these eligible zip-codes.
Note that this contest isn't for the casual chicken consumer. Chick-fil-A will open at 6 a.m. on Saturday and the line will officially form at 6 p.m. on Friday, so you'll have to plan on camping out all night to be fed (and yes, it's supposed to rain). It remains to be seen whether the inclement weather will deter protesters; there's been a widening backlash to Chick-fil-A because of the CEO's opposition to gay marriage, and some activists have contested the company's NYU outpost in the past.
