A Bronx woman has been charged after she allegedly ordered her two pit bulls to attack a man on Friday.
Police say that on Friday morning on Belmont Avenue, 55-year-old Cynthia Oliver got into an argument with a 62-year-old man outsider her building, and allegedly purposefully let her two pit bulls off their leashes to attack him. That man lost a part of his right ear and suffered lacerations to his chest and arms.
An upstairs neighbor took video of the graphic attack.
A 46-year-old good Samaritan tried to intervene on the victim's behalf, and he was also injured by the dogs. He suffered lacerations to his arm, and was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital in stable condition.
Oliver has been charged with eight counts of assault and two counts of reckless endangerment. The dogs have been taken to Animal Care and Control. "They will be placed on a 10-day rabies observation hold after which they will be evaluated by the Department of Health to determine next steps," an AC&C spokesperson said in a statement.
Last week, an off-duty correction officer saved a homeless man from an attacking pit bull in Bed-Stuy by shooting it in the head.
