A man was mugged while walking through the Ramble in Central Park, police say.
According to the NYPD, the incident occurred on the evening of Thursday, July 30, at 10 p.m. The victim, a 53-year-old man, was walking near Transverse Road Two and West Drive, through the Ramble "when the suspect approached him and stated 'I am hungry, do you have any money?'"
The victim apparently answered no and walked away, but police say, "The suspect then came up behind him and put him in a choke hold until he passed out. The victim woke up 20 to 30 minutes later and his wallet and backpack, containing glasses, keys, gift cards, jewelry and an undetermined amount of cash, were gone."
The victim went to Roosevelt Hospital on his own.
Police released a sketch of the suspect, describing him as about 35 years old, 5'8" and 160 pounds. Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS. The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers Website at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM or texting their tips to 274637(CRIMES) then enter TIP577.
