Two weeks ago we wondered who dumped hundreds of domesticated white rats on a small strip of land next to the West Side Highway.
"Those rats are not going to last very long if someone doesn't rescue them," Jason Munshi-South, an associate professor of biology at Fordham University who studies wildlife in New York City, told us at the time. "They'll be run over by cars, eaten by hawks, or attacked by wild rats."
After we published our story, a clarion call went out amongst New York City's rat-loving community: who would save these helpless rats?
Videographer Lindsay Meeks found a couple of animal lovers who were up to the task.
