The police are still looking for a man who allegedly attacked a woman in an apparent hate crime in Chinatown earlier this month—and now there's a sketch of the individual.
According to the NYPD, on Saturday, July 11th, at about 10:40 p.m., a 19-year-old woman was approached by an unknown male in front of 109 East Broadway and apparently got into a verbal dispute with him: "The male suspect accused the victim of talking negatively about him in their language and then started to spit and punch her in her face."
Police had also previously said the suspect made anti-Muslim statements.
The victim suffered a fractured jaw.
The suspect, police say, continued walking on Eldridge Street after the attack, and continued looking back towards East Broadway after the incident. There's video of him:
The suspect is described as being approximately 5'8" to 5'10" and wearing a dark colored short sleeve t-shirt, dark blue jeans, dark sneakers, and a dark colored hat with a Nike symbol. Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then enter TIP577.
