The man suspected in three attacks on Asian woman assaulted a fourth Asian woman yesterday afternoon.
According to the NYPD, a 41-year-old woman, in the vicinity of 48 Mulberry Street in Chinatown, was approached by a male who "attempted to strike up a conversation with her. The victim ignored the suspect and he left, but he did return again, approached her and struck her in the face, with a gray bag containing a hard object, then fled the scene on foot." The victim was treated at NY Downtown Hospital and released.
Police release video from the fourth incident:
All the attacks have occurred in Manhattan, in Midtown East, Little Italy and the Upper East Side. In each instance, the suspect strikes a female Asian victim with a bag containing a hard object. Here are the police details from the other three assaults:
On Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at 1615 hours, the victim, a 35-year-old Asian female, was sitting in the vicinity of 155 Grand Street, within the confines of the 5 Precinct, when the suspect attempted to strike up a conversation with her. The victim ignore him and the suspect left. Moments later, the suspect returned with a white plastic bag, containing a hard object. The suspect then struck the victim in the cheek/chin area and then fled the scene. The victim was removed to NY Downtown Hospital where she was treated and released.
On Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at 2021 hours, the victim, a 29-year-old Asian female, was walking down Park Avenue, in the vicinity of East 30 Street, within the confines of the Midtown South Precinct, when the suspect walked past her and waited at the corner. When the victim reached the corner the suspect struck her in the face with a white plastic bag containing a hard object. The victim was removed to NYU Hospital where she was treated and released.
On Friday, June 12, 2015, at 0025 hours, the victim, a 34-year-old Asian female, was walking in the vicinity of 2 Avenue and East 60 Street, within the confines of the 19 Precinct, when the suspect walked up to her and struck her in the forehead with a white plastic bag containing a hard object. The victim was removed to New York Hospital where she was treated and released.
And here is video from the June 10 incident:
The suspect allegedly asked the victim, "Who is the president of the United States?" When she didn't respond, she was struck.
The victim in the June 12 incident, at Second Avenue and East 60th, spoke to NBC New York, recalling, "At the time he just normal. He didn't look like angry or anything," and then said the attacker got upset, "He said all Asian girls doesn't talk to me. He can never get their phone number. I just ignore him. I didn't say anything. And then just after next second he just hit my face."
She tried to chase him, but then realized she was injured, "I was running but my blood was coming over my face and I couldn't see." She said a stranger helped her call the police and a laceration above her eye required 10 stitches. The injury is so painful that she is currently unable to work.
