A gunman opened fire in front of a Bed-Stuy deli in broad daylight yesterday, missing his intended target and striking a bystander in the shoulder and the armpit.

At 3:44 yesterday afternoon, the suspect, who was caught on a security camera outside of 220 Malcolm X Boulevard near Halsey Street, took out his gun and fired several shots while walking backwards down the street. His shots hit a 50-year-old man standing two blocks north, near the corner of Malcolm X and Jefferson Avenue.

The shooter's intended target, whose name has not been released, escaped without injury, DNAInfo reports.

EMS responded to the scene, and transported the victim to an area hospital in stable condition. The suspect is about 5'5" and 190 pounds, and was last seen wearing a brown hooded sweatshirt and brown sweatpants.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS. The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers Website at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM or texting their tips to 274637(CRIMES) then enter TIP577.
