A squirrel bit an MTA worker's finger in the Bronx yesterday, sending her to the hospital.

The unidentified subway operator sustained the bite at around 4:30 p.m. yesterday, while on a staircase at the elevated Woodlawn 4 station in the Norwood section of the borough. "There were some squirrels about and she tried to shoo them away so one of them bit her on the finger," a source told the Daily News.

She was taken to Montefiore Medical Center for treatment.

City squirrels usually live side-by-side peacefully with human New Yorkers, surviving primarily off leftover french fries and pizza and indulging in the thrill of sporting events.

Reached for comment, an MTA spokesperson said, "What can I tell you? A subway employee was bitten by a squirrel." It is unclear what happened to the aforementioned attacking squirrel.
