A man brought two small kids along on a recent bike-stealing mission on the Upper East Side, police say.
Around 4:00 in the afternoon on Sunday, April 12th, the suspect approached an apartment building on East 60th Street with two children, one on foot and on in a stroller. According to the police report, the suspect entered the building by the front door, and walked down into basement. There, he broke into a storage locker and took two bicycles.
The suspect is described as a male between the ages of 18 and 30, with tattoos and diamond earrings. He was last seen wearing a hat with the words "New York" on it.
Surveillance footage shows the suspect approaching the building with his young charges, one of whom is gripping two balloons. At the end of the video, the suspect returns in a red hoodie to roll the second bike from the side of the building.
Anyone with information in regard to these incidents is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). The public can also submit tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then enter TIP577.
