Today's weather forecast can't get any more Monday. The forecast is also a textbook example of a spring storm. Cloudy skies and steady rain, possibly heavy at times, is expected through early afternoon as a low pressure system crosses the Great Lakes, pulling a warm front slowly northward up the East Coast. Already, nearly an inch of rain has fallen with more expected before the warm front passes this afternoon. Once the front passes we'll have to contend with showers and thunderstorms as the temperature slowly climbs into the lower 60s. Dense fog may also be an issue tonight as there will be plenty of warm, humid air passing over a cold ocean.
A cold front arrives tomorrow morning. The dry air behind the front will put an end to the fog and any chance of rain. Tuesday morning will still be mostly cloudy, but the sun should return by late afternoon. Look for tomorrow to be the warmest day of the week with a high near 70.
Unsettled weather is in the forecast from Wednesday until who-knows-when as an upper-level low moves eastward from the Canadian prairies and sets up shop over northern New England and Atlantic Canada for what could be an extended period of time. A trough stuck in that position means an extended period of cooler than normal weather. Wednesday might warm to the mid 60s but after that we'll be in the mid to upper 50s through the weekend. Wednesday is also our best chance for more rain, with a mix of sun and clouds being more likely for the remainder of the week.
