Yesterday's warm weather coincided with a spike in shootings, with police reporting about a dozen individuals shot or stabbed in 10 separate incidents last night.
The shooting victims, all of whom are expected to survive, include a 15-year-old girl who was shot in front of a building in the Castle Hill Houses in the Bronx, at around 9:18 p.m. last night. A 23-year-old man and 55-year-old man were also shot and injured—all three are in stable condition. Police say there was a house party going on at the time of the shooting, and none of the victims were the intended targets.
Earlier that evening, at around 8:15 p.m. in the west Bronx, a man in his 20s sustained a gunshot wound in his back, while a 17-year-old boy was struck in the shoulder. At 10:05 p.m., another man was shot in the Bronx, this time at Grant Avenue and East 164th Street, and at 5:15 a.m., a 40-year-old man was shot near College Avenue and East 166th Street.
In Brooklyn, one man was shot in the leg at around 9:30 p.m. in Crown Heights, another individual was struck in the torso at the Sheepshead Bay Houses, also around 9:30 p.m., and a 19-year-old was shot in the stomach outside Bushwick Houses in Williamsburg at around 10:30 p.m.
CBS is also reporting that two people were stabbed in separate incidents in Queens, one in Hollis and one in Ridgewood, early Sunday morning.
