There's always going to be some emotional guttersnipe out there insisting that street harassment "isn't a big deal," and that everyone needs to "just calm down," and those people can shut their cans. They should also attend the NYC Anti-Street Harassment Rally—as part of an even larger Anti-Street Harassment Week—because they might learn something!

The rally will be held in Washington Square Park this Saturday starting at 2 p.m. Sponsored by Bed-Stuy-based Hollaback and more than 30 other anti-violence organizations, the event will feature lots of workshops, speakers and a chalk walk, in which participants can voice their responses to street harassment in writing. It will be hosted by poet and performance artist Queen Godis.

Hollaback will also be unveiling a 12-foot-tall "cat against catcalls," seen here devouring its first victim.

The event lasts until 4 p.m. And if you need a refresher on the irritations of street harassment, here's you go.
