Today's weather is starting out cool, dry and quiet but that will quickly change late this afternoon as a warm front pushes our way from Pennsylvania. Clouds will build and light rain is expected by this evening as warm air begins to displace the Canadian air mass responsible for this week's unseasonably cold weather. We might sneak in a high near the upper 40s early this afternoon but the cloud cover will soon be thick enough to put a stop to any solar heating. Look for the temperature to hold steady overnight as the warm front should be passing through the region.

Thursday: Spring! It's a one-day only event but it will sure feel like spring tomorrow. The city will be in the warm sector of the storm and that should bring us into the upper 50s to lower 60s. It can't be spring without rain, so look for showers off and on all day but especially in the early afternoon. A late afternoon thunderstorm is not out of the question. The mild, rainy weather will mostly come to an end when the trailing cold front pushes through late Thursday night. Some forecasts are saying Friday's high will be in the lower 50s but that is misleading. The high will happen at midnight and the temperature during the day on Friday is going to hold steady in the upper 40s before slowly dropping to near freezing by Saturday morning.

Unseasonably cool weather will make an unwelcome return on Saturday when the high is expected to only reach 40 degrees. That's more like the normal low for late March and nowhere near the normal high of 54. Sunday should warm to the mid 40s under sunny skies as high pressure starts moving eastward, and the early part of next week will only be a couple degrees cooler than normal.
