Today is Pi Day, that wonderful calendar date that lines up oh so delicately with the first three digits of the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter. This year's Pi Day is an extra special PI DAY OF THE CENTURY, since the last two digits of the year match the decimal points following 3.14 (at one point this morning, it was 3/14/15 9:26:53). And since no holiday is complete without some cutesy capitalist tie-in, bakeries and other food purveyors around town are offering pi(e)-related deals. Here are a few on tap:
Pie Corps in Williamsburg is offering whole pies for $31.51, three slices for $14.15, and mini pies for $3.14.
Robicelli's in Bay Ridge will be selling $3.14 slices of pie all day, with flavors including Milk and Cookies Pie, Boston Cream Pie and Maple Pumpkin Pie.
Four & Twenty Blackbirds in Gowanus and at the Central Public Library is doling out three slices of pie for $14.
Du Jour Bakery in Park Slope will sell single pie slices for $3.14.
Petee's Pie Company on the Lower East Side made tasty-looking Pi pie crust cookies just for the occasion.
Hill Country Chicken's selling pie cups for only $3.14 a pop at its Manhattan and Brooklyn locations.
Little Pie Company in Midtown will give you a special Pi Cookie if you purchase a large pie.
And Ribalta in Greenwich Village will knock $3.14 off your bill when you wish your server a happy Pi Day. Pizza and kindness!
