Where do you get your news?
Arlene: NY Times and the local news channel, NY1. I also watch CNN and switch between CBS, NBC and ABC.
Alan: NY Times, WSJ and CNN
What are your favorite websites?
Arlene: Unfortunately, everyone is up to par with websites. Not me (except for my own).

What book are you currently reading?
Arlene: Yasmina Reza’s new novel, Happy are the Happy
Alan: The Innovators by Walter Isaacson
What magazines do you subscribe to?
Both: The New Yorker and a bunch of science magazines (Scientific American, Science, Nature, Science News) that Alan reads.
What's your favorite current TV show?
Arlene: I’m out of the loop on this one, too...except for Downton Abbey and various PBS specials. However, I’m an avid TCM watcher.
Alan: Downtown Abbey. These people are real, right? It's not make-believe. Right?
What's the last movie you saw?
Both:American Sniper. Brilliant film.
What's the last performance (dance, opera, or theater) you attended?
Both: "It's Only a Play" with Martin Short, Matthew Broderick and Stockard Channing. Hilarious, loved it.
What's the last music purchase you made?
Arlene: Not into pop music. I have a collection of great classical orchestral music, chamber music and soloists.
Alan: The Bach Chaconne played by Arnold Steinhardt.
What's your favorite piece of art in your home?
Arlene: Can’t pick a favorite. I love all the art we have. Very eclectic selection/collection.
Alan: "The Docent in the Louvre" by Russell Connor.
What place in NYC (landmark, museum, or neighborhood) are you embarrassed to admit you've never visited?
Arlene: Never been up to the Empire State Building, as far as I can recall. Maybe it was so long ago, I don’t remember. But not embarrassed about it. I don’t like heights with no ceiling above my head. Airplanes are fine, as are apartments on high floors, but not rooftops or open patios.
Alan: The Museum of Sex.
What are you most excited about right now?
Both: The publication of Arlene Alda's book, Just Kids from the Bronx: Telling It the Way It Was: An Oral History.
