Chipotle burritos may not be made from deconstructed yoga mats, but that doesn't mean they're good for you. The Times examines average customer orders from the fast casual chain, discovering that on average, we're consuming about 1,070 calories for each meal. That's in addition to a day's worth of sodium and nearly a full day's worth of the recommend amount of saturated fat. But at least those are sustainable nutritional facts?
The main culprit seems to be the chain's burritos, which on average clock around 1,000 calories each. The average chicken burrito—stuffed with meat, black beans, roasted chili corn salsa and guacamole—rings in at 1,095 calories, 300 of which are from the tortilla alone. Note the burrito described above doesn't include sour cream and cheese, which, let's be honest, means it is not a real burrito.
Add-ons like soda obviously bump up the calorie bomb even further, plus a side of chips and guacamole, which will add an extra 770s calories to a meal. Check out the full caloric complement and you may want to reconsider lunch. On the other hand, waiting on line burns calories, so order that quesarito anyway.
