Valentine's Day is only six eating days away, giving you plenty of time to cry over a box of Necco hearts and tell yourself that next year, NEXT YEAR, someone will finally find you charming enough to feed you dinner. But next year is a world away, and for now it's best to embrace the fact that food will always love you back, no matter how many times you text it. Here's where to feast this week:

Tonight from 8 p.m. to midnight: Bill Meier was a neighborhood legend, riding as a messenger and delivering pizza in New York for 20 years. Meier passed away a week ago, and you can help his friends and family defray his medical costs by going to Kinfolk tonight and enjoying a variety of specials with a $5 suggested cover. There's also a silent auction to benefit the cause that will run through the 14th. (Meier's story about the most righteous loogie he ever mustered is a must-see.)

On Tuesday, Jacob's Pickles on the Upper West Side will host a Beer, Cheese & Pickle tasting benefit for the West Side Campaign Against Hunger. $50 gets you one tasting ticket complete with brews from Long Island's Barrier Brewery, and proceeds will go towards the campaign's food pantry and counseling service. The event runs from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.; you can purchase a ticket online.

Head to Grindhaus in Red Hook on Wednesday for the restaurant's special pre-Valentine's Day dinner, which you could attend with a date or with your second stomach. Chef Joey Scalabrino will prepare a five course meal, menu TBD, for $65-per-person; you can make a reservation through the restaurant.

And on Thursday, Mission Chinese on the Lower East Side will host a benefit for the Rock On Foundation with Dogfish Head Craft Brewery and San Antonio spurs star Matt Bonner. Tickets are pricey, but $250 gives you a massive collection of food, with Hong Kong Pork Jowl, Chongqing Chicken Wings, Mapo Tofu, Salt Cod Fried Rice and more on the menu (plus beer!) Proceeds benefit the Rock On Foundation and the MacDowell Colony's Voices of Change initiative, and the event runs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.; purchase your ticket online.
